Set in an early 20^th-century building in the German Templer colony of Sharona, Tel Aviv’s &MOSHIK restaurant pairs architecture with culinary art to offer guests a remarkable dining experience. The work of Pitsou Kedem Architects, the project marks the homecoming of Michelin-starred chef Moshik Roth, who chose this historic location to turn his gastronomic vision into reality in an elegant, minimalist setting.

The project occupies a single open-plan space, characterized by a palette of warm and neutral hues. Beams and pillars treated with mineral plaster are left on show, preserving the look of the existing structure and creating a uniform setting that integrates seamlessly with the sand-colored flooring. Fluted cream-colored wood wainscoting breaks up the regularity of the walls, adding rhythm and texture to the space. At the entrance, visitors encounter a wall composed of two red travertine blocks, stacked one on top of the other and with veining ranging from burgundy to brown, inviting them to discover the dining room that lies beyond.

The nerve center of the space is the open kitchen located near the entrance. A large terracotta-hued counter with stainless-steel surfaces and cooktops is illuminated by copper pendant lights that echo the warm tones of the dining room and create a visual harmony. More than just a prep area, the kitchen is like a stage. Facing the dining room and in full sight of guests, it is an integral part of the dining experience, with the chef’s work transformed into a performance. Orly Avron Alkabes’s lighting design then modulates the light intensity, adding to the theatrical effect and bridging the gap between those who cook and those who dine.

The intimate dining room seats just 20 guests. Round tables with wooden truncated cone bases are arranged throughout the space, paired with brown-leather chairs. Above each table, wine decanter-shaped pendant lights hang from slender cables, creating a domestic atmosphere in which each guest is welcomed into a private ritual. Rounding out the experience, meticulously curated table settings feature white and gold dinnerware and glass stemware in a simple yet elegant composition. Facing the dining area, a dark-framed glazed wine room showcases a collection of wines from around the world, selected with the same care as devoted to the food.

The project also pays close attention to sustainability. The building’s restoration, use of recycled materials, and low-impact technologies make &MOSHIK a model of how contemporary design can engage with existing structures without sacrificing environmental quality or ecological responsibility.

The texture of the lower slab echoes the vertical grooves of the cream-colored wainscoting on the back wall of the dining room.

Rhythmic patterns pressed into the steel, featuring the elegant Trame finish, create an interplay of light and texture that merges with the architecture. The Gessi 316 line features a “woven” metal surface, a signature detail that underscores its material and craftsmanship, and creates a multisensory effect that engages the emotions.

Homecoming | © Amit Geron, courtesy of Pitsou Kedem Architects | For the wall finishes, kitchen island, and countertops, Cosentino supplied ultra-compact slabs from its Dekton Kraftizen range, in 4-mm and 12-mm thicknesses, and in the colors Nacre (a matte mother-of-pearl), Umber, and a warm terracotta red. Fireproof and resistant to scratches, stains, and heat, Dekton offers high water repellency while combining esthetics and performance with functionality and design.
